Developers propose an entertainment district to liven up Phoenix

San Diego has the Gaslamp Quarter, Miami has South Beach and Denver has LoDo. Now, a group of private developers wants to create a hip hangout spot in downtown Phoenix, one that rivals or even surpasses those found in some of the nation’s greatest cities. The proposed Jackson Street Entertainment District would cut a path across the southern end of downtown, stretching from Central Avenue to Chase Field, and could be anchored by the state’s first House of Blues music venue.  More…

Chandler firm unveils plan for downtown

CHANDLER - A Chandler company known for its renovation of old buildings is preparing to launch the most ambitious downtown redevelopment plan in city history: a $300 million project that includes six-story buildings, 600 urban townhomes and apartments, a new resort and conference center, and more than triple the existing retail and office space.  More…

Big-league brokers sell valley’s luxury homes

Those multimillion-dollar homes in the Valley’s elite neighborhoods don’t sell themselves. It takes a certain kind of person with a certain set of skills to broker those deals and make a living at it. It helps, too, that Phoenix’s luxury-housing market is thriving, even as the rest is stumbling. The number of million-dollar properties sold since 2000 has spiked, and so has the number of deals for $3 million, $5 million and much higher, a signal that the Valley is moving into the big leagues of luxury homes.
