Phoenix’s first two skyscrapers and other buildings covering a block of downtown are being sought by a California company proposing to build a full-service hotel there. A Chicago-based financial-services firm is leading the charge to create a more sophisticated skyline for downtown Phoenix and at the same time helping meet the demand for high-class office space in the city’s central business district. Mesirow Financial Real Estate opened its Phoenix office last year after the company joined forces with other investors in a limited liability corporation.
